Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is transmitted directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. Broward County Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be retained for the purpose of responding. It remains within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive basic technical information whenever a page loads, including:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring website, when one is available
- The pages opened and the time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device to help measure site use, such as popular pages and common exit points. Analytics providers combine that traffic information for reporting. A browser can refuse cookies through its settings, although disabling them may change how some features work.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
No database of personal criminal-record information is kept, compiled, or sold by this resource. Its content identifies official access routes through BSO, the Broward Clerk, FDLE, and the Florida Sexual Offenders and Predators Search. Visitor data is not turned into reports about other people, and Broward County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Government records are handled separately under the Florida Public Records Law, Chapter 119, while official criminal-history dissemination follows Florida Statute §943.053.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Information submitted through a box is handled under that company's privacy policy rather than this one. Each provider controls its retention and disclosure rules, so review those terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to BSO pages, Broward court portals, Florida agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy policy controls. Review it before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select targeted ads. That tracking is performed by the provider.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be disclosed to:
- Advertising networks serving ads on the pages
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search providers processing a submitted query
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected data. No internet-connected system can be guaranteed completely secure, however, so the resource cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
The resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If data from a minor is identified, a deletion request may be submitted.
Your Data Rights
When its scope and coverage requirements are met, the Florida Digital Bill of Rights, Florida Statutes §§501.701 through 501.722, may grant rights concerning personal data. Available requests may include:
- Opting out of certain processing activities
- Requesting deletion of covered personal data
